What Are Good Carbs ?

In this video Jillian Micheals dishes out the skinny on what are good carbs and how to have a healthy carb diet with out having to go on a no carb binge.  Many people think no carbs are the way to go to lose weight, but they are mistaken because it takes healthy carbs to function properly day to day and for diabetics.  Eating good carbs will help to maintain proper insulin levels.

There are two types of   carbohydrates and they are not the same when they are metabolized by the body. Carbohydrates play a large role in the human body giving us a large portion of our energy and aids in proper assimilation of the digestive tract.

So as you can see being able to know what good carbs are vs bad carbs is vital.

Simple carbohydrates comes in the form of sugar, glucose, maltose, and lactose. It is a good quick source of energy however simple carbohydrates is just what their name implies (simple).  They do not supply any other source of nutrients or fiber.

Complex Carbohydrates - Are filled with proper nutrients and fibers to and it is broken down into sugars once it enters the body.

Example of complex carbs include starch, breads, (whole wheats)( whole grains) pasta, rice, legumes, beans.
